A Plan for Losing Weight

A Plan for Losing Weight

Recently, I visited Barcelona with Heather and the kids, after having been gone for about a year. We had a great time seeing old friends, laughing about old times. During this visit, whenever we got together with people, I heard one phrase repeated more than any other. Guess what it was...

It wasn't "Golly, I've missed you."
It wasn't "So, how've you been?"
It wasn't even "You look good!"
The one phrase I heard the most was this: "You've put on weight."

Now: I've tried not to let this get me down. In fact, I'm determined to do something about it. So: I've come up with A Plan to Lose Weight. Are you ready for this? It is so brilliant, I don't know why I didn't think of it before. In fact, you're gonna kick yourself that you didn't think of it first. Here's my Plan to Lose Weight:

I'm gonna Hire a Lawyer. That's right. I'm gonna sue the crap outta those companies that made me this way. Look out, McDonald's! Look out, Burger King! Look out, Coca Cola! Look out, Pizza Hut! I'm gonna hit you where it hurts: right in the pocketbook. You see, there's a lawyer in the United States who thinks I'm right on. His name is John Banzhaf. And he's a professor for the George Washington University Law School. And he's not the only one! There's another guy too. His name is Marion Nestle. He's a New York University professor and the author of a book: "Food Politics: How the Food Industry Manipulates What We Eat to the Detriment of Our Health." Mr. Nestle says: "It's not fair. People are confronted with food in every possible way to eat more. The function of the food industry is to get people to eat more, not less." That's right. Amen to that. Preach it.

But, wait...suing them won't take off my weight. And, anyway, maybe it's not their fault. Maybe, it's my own. They're not forcing me to eat all that food. Maybe it's time for me to face up to reality. I guess I better find another Plan to Lose Weight...I guess I better think about the Choices that I make and The Consequences of those Choices. Yeah, sounds right.
