Under Investigation
By Richard Richard and Riekje Wallace

Synopsis:
The play is set a few days after the resurrection and expands on the life of the soldier who declares at the death of Christ "Surely he was the Son of God." As Angela interviews Marcus he recounts, as an eyewitness, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As the story develops it becomes increasingly obvious that Marcus has been profoundly affected by the events of the Easter weekend.

Characters:
Criminal Psychologist/ Investigator: Angela Augustine
Roman Soldier: Marcus Polmero
Setting:
An investigation is taking place in a small room a few days after the resurrection. Angela should have a balance between being a focused professional psychologist who wants to move up in the world and yet somewhat kind and sympathetic to Marcus. Marcus needs to come across as a good soldier. As the story develops the tension between Marcus' longing to see his family and the life-transforming love he has found in Christ needs to be evident.
Additional notes:
For extra effect we left Marcus on the stage holding his small cross during a PowerPoint presentation to Steven Curtis Chapman's song "Speechless". At the end of the PP Presentation Marcus needs to call out again "I can't accept".

An Easter Poem written when struggling with this script!
People say the resurrection is trash
Made up by people smoking hash
But why did the priests offer cash
To burn the story 'till it were ash
