Proyecto Bernabé (Las Rozas de Madrid)
Proyecto Bernabé aims to reach out to the poor and disadvantaged – with a special focus on immigrants - in NW Madrid, via a drop-in centre in Las Rozas. We start with food and clothes, useful information, practical advice, and most importantly a sympathetic ear, but we are always ready to explore other ways of meeting the needs of those who come. We are seeking to show the love of Jesus in practical ways, and are committed to following where God leads. This ministry is shared with a local Spanish church, ‘Príncipe de Paz’.
Our team of volunteers includes people from Mountainview and Príncipe de Paz churches, and non-believers with a social conscience! We are currently helping about 20 families every week, and spending about 800 euros a month on food, although we are working to supplement that with regular contributions from the Madrid Food Bank.
‘For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' (Matthew 25: 35-36)
